We present you this nice activity of canyoning which takes place in Rubó’s river gorge, unique place in the National Park of Picos de Europa. Rubó river flows into Cares river, famous for its salmons, beauty and route along the valley in which K2 also organizes hiking trips.

Located near Trescares in the Asturian council of Peñamellera Alta and in the lower part of Picos de Europa.

We cross the roman bridge to be in the beginning of the lower part of the canyon. Rubó’s canyon starts with some abseils and ends up in a place full of natural swimming pools and water toboggans, very funny and easy to practice.

Canyoning consists of abseiling down mountain rivers, going down natural toboggans, walking and jumping to their natural crystalline swimming pools. Almost anybody can do it with minimum physical qualities and essential knowing how to swim.

There are sevral places in Rubó river where you can enjoy this beautiful and exciting sport, and in this way we can stablish different levels depending on your experience and technical knowledge about abseiling. This one in particular is levelK1, the basic one in which we can take kids from 8 years on. In Asturias there are many types of canyons due to its generous orography and depending on its difficulty you can make the following list: family cliffs, in which kids from 8 years on can learn how to do it, medium cliffs, in which you need to know the basic techniques, others of high difficulty, and finally the hardest ones.

The groups for this specific activity have to be of a minimum of 5 persons accompanied by experienced authorized K2 instructors in the field of canyoning. They also know the areas very well and the techniques that should be used, so we can say that there is no risk to run.

We get into the deepest nature of Picos de Europa, native forests, wild rivers born in crystalline and pure water, waterfalls, toboggans and jumps. Canyoning in Asturias brings you opportunity to discover unique places that wouldn´t be possible to get there without our instructors and equipment.
